What it is

A free PDF editor that runs entirely inside your web browser. You can reorder, rotate and delete pages, edit existing text, add text, images, signatures, highlights, shapes and stamps, redact sensitive content, read text out of scanned documents with OCR, and export to PDF, PNG or JPG.

Why it runs in your browser

Most online PDF tools upload your document to a server, process it there, and ask you to trust what happens next. That is a poor trade for a contract, a payslip or an ID scan.

Here, the work is done by your own device. The page loads, and from then on your file is opened, edited and exported locally. It is never transmitted anywhere. You can watch this yourself in your browser's network tools, or disconnect from the internet after the page loads and keep working.

What that means in practice

• No account, no sign-up, no email address.
• No upload queue and no file size limit imposed by a server — the limit is your device's memory, comfortably around 100 MB and 500 pages.
• Large documents use your own processor, so a big OCR job takes real time.
• Everything is forgotten when you close the tab.

Built with open source

PDF Studio is built on open-source software, including PDF.js and pdf-lib for reading and writing PDFs, Tesseract for OCR, and Noto fonts for scripts such as Lao and Thai. The interface is available in twelve languages.

Cost

It is free to use, with no feature held back. Running it costs almost nothing precisely because there is no server doing the work, and advertising is intended to cover what it does cost. See the privacy policy for what that means for your data.
